"Things I don't know about Tasha:

1) whether it bothers you that everyone calls you Tasha instead of Diane?
2) what your favorite color is? 3) why you quit martial arts? 4) whether
you want kids? 5) what your favorite food is, besides PIE?"

1) Does it bother me that people call me Tasha? Of course not. I chose that name for myself, so I obviously like it. I actually get a little confused when non-family members call me Diane in social situations. (My household peeps can call me whichever name they remember first, obviously.)

2) My favorite color... that's a toughie. I like lots of colors, and it sort of depends on the application. I adore my red bike, my favorite apron dress is pale green, my favorite bike jacket is pink (unless it's hot, in which case I love the white one), and my clothes are all different colors. Except for yellow, which I can't really wear because it does awful things to my skin tone. I guess I just like color.

3) I quit martial arts for two reasons: firstly, I moved in with darkwolfie, which put me over 45 minutes from the dojo, one way, and there are no dojos teaching that style up here. Secondly, the primary instructor was freakin' toxic. When she told me that my relationship with darkwolfie wouldn't last more than five years, I knew that she was projecting her misery on me more than a little, and I didn't want to be around that negativity. THat wasn't the only time she'd been toxic, but that was the breaking point. (I hear that she's now divorced, and Wolfie and I have been together for almost seven years, and have been married for nearly four. Who's laughing now?) I have a friend who teaches that style, ex-boyfriend actually, and I'd totally train with him, but his dojo is down the Cape. Even on the bike with it's gas saving, it's too far to go to train with him.

I'm getting back into it though, with Krav Maga classes at a local studio. Wolfie's taking them with me, and that's both fun and weird. :-)

4. Kids... I'm nearly forty, so I need to really make the choice soon. I still don't know.

5. Favorite food? New England boiled dinner, the way my mom makes it. Smoked shoulder of ham, boiled with potatoes, carrots, baby onions, and cabbage (I don't eat the cabbage, but I'd be afraid to leave it out, for fear it would negatively affect the way everything else tastes). I'd totally make it for an event, but I don't know if anyone but Wolfie and me would like it. Om nom nom.

i feel: okay okay

I have to figure out how to scale it up for a lot of people, if I'm going to make it for an SCA event... but I'd like to make it for folks another time, so they can try it.

Your description reminds me a little of a traditional Wisconsin fish boil.

I think I'd rather have the ham...

Mom says that it's the one meal that will get both her girls home for. Of course, that was easier before my sister had the baby, but still, we'll make the effort.

1) Not really easy to define simply... I am mostly a project manager for a financial services software firm. Our specialty is for trading platforms (stocks, bonds, etc). My specialty is building new interfaces between us and our clients or 3rd parties.

2) I fell into software and this job; I have a degree in it but I never liked it. I still don't really, but I'm good at it and it pays the bills. I love the challenges and the creativity I'm allowed to run with.

3) My mom... we had horses in the back yard when I was baby - much like Aeryn. As soon as I could sit up by myself, I was riding... Then progressed into lessons and it's horsie go fast ever since.

4) Domestic Abuse. I can't stand the fact that this exists in the world and how horrible it can be. But it's a frustrating one, cus I see no way to fix it.

5) Indoor riding arena - heated, posh, extravagant. oh and a hot tub; for me... and my friends; not for the horses...

From Tasha

1. what's your favorite fabric to sew?

Cotton Velveteen, it is soft, forgiving, and I love the way it looks and feels

2. What's your favorite fabric to wear (not necessarily the same thing)?

I love china silk, and soft fabrics.... nothing stretchy

3. You have lots of skills - what do you want to learn how to do?

Butcher a side of beef. Bake better, and counted cross stich. I love love love learning things in the kitchen

4. What was your best vacation ever? That easy, my fist trip to Disney with Bryan

5. What qualities and skills do you think a Laurel shouold possess? (I saved the kicker for last)

I'll say you did.... lets see

a willingness to share, understanding, good listening skills, supportiveness, being open to new or different way of doing things, not having to always be right, kindness, a want to be helpful, a soft heart and a thick skin do come in handy. A honest joy in watching other do well.... that is what I can think of right now

1. What's your favorite food?
these days... sushi - specifically - its a toss up between a Catapillar roll and a chicken tempura roll

2. What have you never done, that you've always wanted to do?
i want to go to egypt and see all the ancient sites

3. When was the last time you had short hair?
short... what i define as short - above the shoulder - i had a cut that was chin length in the front and above the ears in the back in Dec of 2000. i kept it that short for about 4 months. it was shoulder length for a while until spring of 2002... i've let it grow with only trims since then - pausing as bra stap length for a little while. now i'm letting it grow to at least the bottom of my butt... then we'll see.

4. If you owned your own business, what would it be?
something that what ever it was someone else did the work and i didn't have to do anything. maybe a beach chair tester...

5. What aspects of being a royal retainer do you like best?
making such awesome friends.
