one horrible thing did happen today...
We stopped by Central Mass Powersports on the way home. I'm looking for a new, lighter helmet, but they didn't have anything I was interested in.

Except for a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Mean Streak Special Edition. I've been drooling over them for ages. I'd never had the nerve to sit on one, though, until today. It's been a lust from afar thing.

Until today. Today it became a "lust up close" thing. It's heavier than any bike I've ridden before (shocker there, huh?), and I can't quite flat-foot it, but nearly. I would be comfortable with how much of my foot is on the ground. darkwolfie said it looked like I was reaching for the handlebars and controls, and I was a bit, but it wasn't bad.

This is where the horror comes in. I fit the damn bike. I fit the bike that, when I first laid eyes on it, made me stop in my tracks with my mouth open. And it's $11,000.

So I got off the bike, my dream bike, and I walked away. I wasn't even tempted to talk numbers. I love my Vulcan 500, and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of every mile we travel together. But I'm choosing my lottery numbers, and when I hit the Mega-Giganto-Humungo-Ultrabux, after I find the house in the country with the big garage and studio, I'm going looking for a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Mean Streak in Flat Metallic Spark Black and Persimmon Red. And I'm going to get someone to paint me a Shoei helmet to match.

Embrace the fucking horror, people.

It's the sexiest bike I've ever seen. It gives me the chills.

I'm not big onto cruisers, but that's a sexy bike!

That bike is the mechanical manifestation of confidence and sex appeal. *sigh*

About Shoei helmets...

I'm not meaning to be nosy, but have you tried one on?

I used to work for a Harley shop for special events, and Shoei makes a distinctly different shape of helmet, usually. They tend to be rounder rather than oval. Obviously, you buy what fits and that you like.

Best wishes.

Re: About Shoei helmets...

Yup, and they fit me great. My squash is more round than oval. I just can't really afford them.
