i'm tired
I'm tired of all the negativity that I'm seeing in the news, in the media, on journals. I'm not trying to tell anyone what they can or cannot write -- far from it. But there have to be good things going on, stuff you have to look forward to, stuff that makes you smile. Sometimes it's just the little things that can turn your day around and give you hope for tomorrow.

So tell me -- what's making you smile lately? What fun thing have you done? What are you looking forward to?

(Feel free to repost, BTW. I bet lots of people want a bit of a boost about now.)

I had a really great chat with the admissions person at NESL who was very encouraging about everything.

Also there was a guy there who was struting around saying he was REALLY REALLY old to be startig law school at 27, and seemed pretty confident that he was the oldest one in the group. It actually amused me and I considered yelling at him to get off my lawn.

Awesome! And if that guy thought he was the oldest at 27, that means he thinks you look younger than he does, so YAY for looking young!

Where's NESL?

I have resumed my morning walks before work in N. Billerica. I saw my favorite cardinal this morning. Both of these things make me smile.

I definitely am getting the feel for the "jump" part of diving now. I only had a chance to do one dive yesterday, but it felt just right. I'm almost ready to attempt it from up on the diving block! (The very idea of that scares me to pieces, but in a good "I dare ya" kind of way!)

Yay! That's fabulous. I can't wait for spring so I can be comfortable outside again.

Yay! I have a bit of an outline written, BTW; I'll try to get it coherent shortly and send it to you.

I have a giant pile of fabric cut, which is 1 step closer to it actually being garb. And it's not for a deadline either! (The garb shelf has space, the fabric shelf is full, time to balance it out.)

I love that -- time to balance it out.

I should work on cleaning out my workroom tonight. That would make me happy, because I really want to do more sewing.

As sad as this sounds, I'm getting better at holding onto my ability to be articulate and access memory and rational thoughts during emotional situations, I'm getting better interacting with my baby daughter and my son and I are getting closer each day.

It's springlike and delightful in The South. I didn't have to wear a coat at all this morning. I am so not ever going to take this for granted.

I'm going to Milwaukee this weekend to attend the wedding of one of my best friends from the Marine Corps. She was my maid of honor, and I will be at hers to represent as well... :)

This is a great idea, Tasha! {{hugs}}

My kids are well, kids, but the ups and downs don't change the fact that I am One. Very. Happy. Mom.

On the smaller scale: my husband got me a potted hosta last summer to replace my one in the garden that he pulverized by accident, and he thought he'd killed the potted one too, but new buds are coming up now. Spring is coming!!!

In karate class over 30 years ago, we did a bit of tumbling for the purposes of learning to fall without being hurt. Then we never used it. I guess we weren't prone to knocking each other over?

Anyway, last night was first time in a kung fu class, and one of the things we were doing was a shoulder roll then come up and into a fighting stance (bow, on guard). And I did it right each time! I even stayed on center down the mat. Whoo!

We always threw each other around, but I bet that was a function of also including jiu-jitsu in the curriculum. I'm glad it all came back to you!

What is making me smile lately? My husband and 2 sons. They are full of wackiness. :D

Fun thing I have done lately? I am making progress on my latest scroll and I am really happy with the way it is coming out.

What am I looking forward to? Building my new cutting table and then getting to use it! We are hoping to go to more events this year. Especially Panteria. And that requires more warm clothes. I am also really looking forward to spring. I am seeing more early signs of it. Robins flying about and more small critters coming out of their winter dens.

I miss seeing animals. Though Bob and Kaede are always good for smiles, the crows that live around us just aren't all that great for one's wildlife fix.

This is silly, but 260 comments on a single post.

That's fricking cool.

And I think we have kept the sniping to a minimum.

My one year old niece is walking all the time now. And she smiles, and laughs, and giggles like crazy! And her four year old brother hugs me and tells me he loves me all the time. They make me feel very, very, happy indeed and I smile lots, and lots, and lots when they're around, which is often because they live downstairs from us. :-)

That's awesome. I need to go up to Maine to see my little niece. She was furniture surfing when I last saw her at Christmas.

It's sunny and forecast for the high 60s on the prairie; my students' insights are interesting and flowing; and a bit of work this weekend makes for a much more zen living space this week. Feelin' good here.

Also started a new sweater whilst reading for class last night and in 230 pages did half a sleeve. Llama, linen, and silk, in a natural oatmeal color. *is happy*

*hugs you*

Warm weather on the prairie... maybe we'll see it in a week or so? Dare I hope?
