I've seen them occasionally, but not recently. They never worked for me, though; I have always been forced to apply fingernails or knives to the task. Usually the former aren't enough, alas.

I gave up and bought one of the specialty CD case openers -- basically a razor in a specially-shaped block of plastic, so you just put the CD package into the block, slide it along, and it neatly slices it open. Well worth the trivial investment...

I had one. I lost it. :-( Poor me... Someday I hope to have a place to put my stuff, and then handy things like that won't disappear, but I know it's a pipe dream...
