Heh. - when you don't know what to do...
do the next thing
I got my canter authorization. On the outside chance that there are people reading this who don't know what I'm talking about, that means that when I compete in equestrian activities at an SCA event, I can canter without getting in trouble.

I still have to get authorized to play the games at a canter. What I didn't realize until I got my authorization card, is that not only must I authorize with a short weapon, like a sword, but with longer weapons, as in lances. There are authorizations to ride in armor with a shield, and in a closed-face helm, as well. I don't think I'm going to worry about that; my persona would ride in a helm with a nasal, and since I don't fight on foot, I'm not going to worry about making armor to ride in. Too much expense for something I wouldn't do/use often enough.

It pleases me, though. I tried three times to get this authorization; third time was the charm. I've worked really hard to get my riding back to where it was. Every time I get up on a horse that's not Ginger, I'm reminded that I had the best pony in the whole world. He was sweet, he was well-tempered, moved beautifully... I think he taught me to ride. I miss him so much.

Someday I'll have a horse of my own again. And he'll be perfect for me: sweet and loving, beautiful moves, energetic, good-hearted. That's not to say he won't have his days; Lord knows Ginger did. But he'll be the right horse for me, because I won't settled for any old horse. I'll find the right one for me, at a price I can afford. And we're gonna have a great time.
