I didn't lie. Today was an exercise in frustration early on, and exhaustion towards the later part of the day. We did Individual Movement Techniques (class for all and class plus lanes for some of us) and went through the lanes (practical) portion of UXO/IED* training. IMT is techniques for moving under direct and indirect fire; low crawl, high crawl, and 3-to-5 second rushes.

The IMT lane kicked my ASS. I'm exhausted. It went something like this:

Run a little way.
Fall down behind something.
Run some more.
Fall down again.
Run again.
Fall down behind a big barrier.
Make sure it's not booby-trapped, and go over the barrier.
Run some more.
Fall down again.
Run a little farther.
Fall down, roll over on your back, and crawl under some concertina wire.
Run more.
Go over triple-stranded concertina using a board as a stile.
Run, and fetch up behind another barrier.
Crawl on elbows and knees to another barrier.
Breathe.
Crawl on belly, face in dirt, through soft, wet, cold sand.
Throw (non-functional) grenade.
"Charge" hill (if charging can be considered to be hauling my fat ass up it).
Fall down for last time, and drink water.

It was hard as hell, and frustrating, and painful in some spots (rolled onto my canteen and gacked my kidney a bit) but I carried on, and I finished. I'm actually pretty proud of myself. Right now my back crunches when I lean over, my knees are sore, and my gear is caked with sand, but I feel good about it. I do need to clean all that up, though, because I'll need it in the morning, so I gotta go.

Y'know - back when I used to play Rugby, our coach called that kind of exercise 'crunchsprints' or something like that. Lie down - jump up, sprint, lie down, repeat.

We would have to do it until 3/4 or so of the team either passed out or puked.

You have more than my full sympathies. Urgh.

Never having done anything for which the stopping signal was passing out or puking, I'm just going to send you my HOLY SHIT GIRL YOU ROCK! reaction, AND some sympathy for those sore muscles...

Seriously, Tasha. That's just amazing!
