So my beloved baby seester sent me a picture of her in her wedding gown (she's getting married in November). It's gorgeous, and strapless. See above about November. I neglected to mention she lives in Maine. Strapless, November, Maine. She's gonna need some sort of coverup.

Enter the fiber and string freak. The one with the new spinning wheel on the way. Seester needs a stole of some sort, and mere wool Will Not Do. There's nothing for it, but that I get 8-10 ounces of silk and start spinning to make this. Somehow, it just seems like the right one for her.

I spindled up some unbleached tussah tonight, just to seewhat it was like spinning silk. It's niiiiice. Very nice. I'm looking forward to this project, though it means I'll also need to be obsessive about putting lotion on my hands. Small price to pay, though.

This will be fun.

I love spinning silk. That's my "feel good" fiber. Rubbing a little lemon juice on your fingers really helps to smooth out rough skin. Also, I keep a nail buffing board handy...not for my nails but buff the skin where the silk slides over. I know that sounds weird.
