I got sidetracked. I brought my pretty Polly Joy to Woolbearers on Saturday so a potential customer could try it, and as a thank you, one of the owners gave me a bag of Merino roving in yellow and purple and some blue... looked a bit dog's breakfasty as roving, but it's spinning up into a really lovely sport/DK weight softy-soft-soft -soft yarn. (It's roving from a batt, instead of combed top -- definitely my first choice if I ever get a wild hair to spin for a sweater.) It's all lilac and clear yellow and pale green and robin's egg blue -- it looks like an accident at the Paas factory. i can't wait to ply this stuff together -- I hope it won't get too muddy!

Gotta get to bed, though -- I screwed up my alarm clock and slept through PT today (I had a bitch of a time getting to sleep, since I only had one day to adjust from night shift to day), so I canNOT do that tomorrow.

i feel: sleepy sleepy

Hey Tasha? My spinning books are in the mail from amazon as we speak, and I could, I suppose, Just Fucking Google It, but...one is curious...if you have time and inclination, could you give me a wee hint about why roving from a batt would be your choice if you do get that wild hair/spin/sweater? Danke, danke... :)

I tend to spin combed top very smooth, hard, and strong -- not so much soft and fluffy. The carded roving, however, *looks* like I'm spinning it smooth, hard and strong, but plies soft and fluffy. If I tried, I could spin the combed top soft and fluffy, but I've been spinning it for embroidery thread lately, so I'm reluctant to change that particular paradigm.
