I'm here
Well, I'm at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Looks like I'll be
staying in Kuwait, too -- I'll be at Camp Victory
South. Thought I'd be at Victory North; I was wrong.
The trip here was long and fraught with delays and
very little opportunity to eat. I'll explain more
about that later. It's hotter than the hinges of hell
here, and you know that hot wind that blows out of the
oven when you open it? It blows like that here. I'm
exhausted and pretty miserable at the moment, but it's
nothing that a shower and some sleep won't cure.

I love you all, and I'll talk to you later.

Love always,

Me

Because tpau didn't say it... drink water!
bubbette From: bubbette Date: July 26th, 2005 07:23 pm (UTC) (base camp)
And don't forget to drink some more water (smile).

I like it when you're in Kuwait. That means we don't have to track down some body armor for you to wear as you're cruising around downtown Baghdad. (The stuff that the military issues is...well...at best it's hot and heavy, and at worst it doesn't protect you.) If you get sent down Saddam Way, let us know and we'll find you some Point Blank.

Keep your butt down.

Heh... I have PointBlank body armor, with ceramic ballistic plates. The bugger weighs about 30 pounds, and hopefully it'll stay in my duffle bag the entire time. :-)

Okay. Drink more water. (grin)

Believe me -- I am! Probably not quite enough, but I'm trying. Luckily there's Crystal Light packets available in the chow hall for when I get sick of plain water.

Glad you made it there ok. Drink water.

Is Victory North the Camp Victory in Baghdad? I didn't realize there were multiple camps named Victory.

*hug* best wishes.

and oddly enough, the way you described the heat has some weird beauty of its own.

take care.
chibent From: chibent Date: July 26th, 2005 03:31 pm (UTC) (base camp)

Many *hugs* for you!

My husband (who was in Kuwait a couple of years ago) emphatically agrees with you about the heat. When we complain about Baltimore's current sweltering humidity, remembering Kuwait helps us keep things in perspective.

We're both wishing you well and praying for your safe return.

Glad to hear you made it there safely, woman. To echo: Drink lots of water, enjoy all things you can, and let us know where to send care packages.

With much love, and holding you in my thoughts!! *hugs*

Do you have a spindle & fiber? Let us know if you need more of each. Spin to relax, because I'm sure there will be much stress & discomfort there.

Peace to you.
