No, I really did mean that, and no, it's not a typo. I got a HUGANTIC box from some of my friends today, the ones Wolfie and I refer to as the "Usual Suspects" -- was1, spunkywulf, beerhorse, frostyw, spotweld, ganador, skorzy, points, and Shawn and Jeremy, who's LJ handles I just can't remember (sorry, guys).

Guys, the cards are awesome, and the artwork inside and out just made me grin! And the goodies! The UMOs and SSG Zackary thank you for the Girl Scout cookies (I'm hoarding the Thin Mints for myself), and the Tagalongs are already gone. And thanks so much for the CD and the iTunes card! I'm all plussed up on toiletries and lotion at the moment (this was the fourth package I've gotten with soap in it -- are people trying to tell me something? also, I already have two big bottles of lotion that aren't even half-used), so that stuff will be sent home for future use, along with the coffee. We'd drink it here, but y'all picked up whole bean coffee by mistake and we're remarkably light on coffee grinders at the PX. ;-) So home it goes to Wolfie, and he can put it in the freezer to await my return and the purchase of a grinder. And a coffee pot worthy of decent coffee.

Also, whoever packed the box? A+ job. Nothing shifted, nothing squished, everything was absolutely intact. I was suitably impressed! SSG Swe thanks you for the big box, which she's going to reuse to send stuff home to her family.

I'm in awe, guys. Thank you SO much. I'll be home with hugs all around in March!

YAY it made it safe and sound! So happy to hear you enjoyed it, we all miss you and wish you a Merry Christmas :)

Whee! I'm glad the cookies were a hit. ;) My Mom works for the Girl Scout council in North Haven, CT. I used to volunteer for Diane, the lady who runs the cookie sale, before I moved to MA. Mom sent her an email saying, "Lonnie wants to know if she can get some cookies," and Diane showed up at her desk with the box filled and packed, no questions asked. It's nice to have the hook-up. :)

You coming home in March will be about the best Birthday present ever. :)

Oh, and Shawn is goldwing and Jeremy is shadowstalkerw. Will took care of all the organization and packing and shipping, he's very good at herding cats. If it wasn't for Will, the project probably would have died after we all agreed it'd be cool to do it for you. :)

Yay! I'm glad to hear you got it okay. I'm happy it was such a nice surprise for you and you can share some stuff with your squad. Sorry about the whole coffee beans. I didn't even think about that. And I knew at least one other person had sent you toiletries, but figured you could always gift it to someone else if you had extras.

Jen and Lonnie were a bit help doing the artwork for the cards. It was a cool project to get finished and it's great to know it was apprecited. Again, we're all thinking about you back home here.

Awesome! Glad to hear it got there. hah.. maybe we should've sent you a coffee grinder? :)

I would think you'd be going through skin lotions by the bucketful out there? I just imagine a very hot, very arid place.

It's not really like that this time of year, and I work in a trailer with climate control, anyway. Actually, today is cool and humid; almost feels like rain. *checks thermometer* 11am and still under 70 degrees, plus the weather report says it'll rain tomorrow and Sunday. There's even grass growing between the tents!

Summertime, though, it gets up to 120 degrees or so, and the moisture in the air is almost nil.

I kinda like winter in the desert, but it certainly isn't very pretty. Even though things are a little greener, it's still mostly brown.
