could someone roto-rooter my sinuses please?
I'm sick. It started Thursday night, with a scratchy throat, and now my sinuses are full of cement and my lungs are full of goo. I'm going back to my tent and back to bed, after a stop at the PX to see if they carry Nyquil (would not surprise me to discover that they don't) and the post office to get some boxes. I looked in my footlocker last night, and I brought more useless crap with me... I'm going to send a bunch of it home so I have someplace to put the stuff I do want to have handy. I saw the tent I'll be living in at Camp Virginia, and "criminally undersized" doesn't begin to cover it. I'll only be there for about three weeks, though, so I guess it's not that bad.

I should go do something.

This would be easier if I didn't feel like I've been punched in the face.

i feel: sick sick

Soldering iron. Heat it up, then push up through both nostrils. It will vaporize any blockages you might have. Oh, by the way, you'll also destroy the lining of your nose and you'll never smell again. But your sinuses won't bother you for a while...

I'm sending you some Claritin-D...mentally, anyway.

What a great idea! I bet I'll never get those "gee the air is dry" nosebleeds again, either!

I just wish the PX stocked Nyquil. I understand that they probably don't because of the possibility of abuse, but still... would have been nice to be knocked out for a while.

Does the PX carry some of that saline sinus wash?

Eww, squicky! Also, no. They don't carry a lot of OTC medications. I got some Sudafed PE Sinus, and that helped a LOT.

Total drag that you're sick, woman. I hope you find something that will pass for symptom medication. :(

Thoughts for feeling better wafting your way ~~~

beak tricks (unsolicited advice follows)

this is stupid and should not work, that being said...
To drain your beak:
If your sinuses are filled with dry crud you can try saline as a spray or in drops to loosen some of the goo. If your sinuses are full of wet goo, Just begin here. Push your tounge up against the roof of your mouth for a few seconds. Release it and with 2 fingers, push on your forehead between your eyes. Switch off between these two. What you are doing is moving the bits behind your nose. This will probably drain your sinuses. I am hoping that helps a bit.

I'll give it a shot... just wish it would stop draining to my lungs!
