now i'm hungry
So I was reading Stargate: Atlantis fanfic and flipping through comics at the same time. Both the fic and the comic mentioned poutine. Now I'm hungry. Good thing there's a French Canadian population in Manchester. I can have pountine when I get home.

Eighteen days.

I read that and thought - French Canadian? In Manchester?

And then realised - it's not that Manchester.

2.5 weeks! Yaaay! :)

Hee! As I wrote that, I thought to myself, "nutter4 will wonder if I mean Manchester, England... I wonder if I should mention that I mean Manchester, New Hampshire?" And then I decided to be all arrogant American and leave it off. ;-)

I used to live in Manchester (UK) and it's pretty multicultural - but not that multicultural, though it may have changed a bit since I was last there. :)

I found a few places when I Googled "poutine Manchester NH".

Places to find poutine in manchester came up on Saturday... I've never had it, but damn I want some cheese curds.

(of course, the perfect cheese curd expereince does not involve fries in anyway- it involves a grease soaked cardboard container walking around the Minnesota State Fair burning your tounge and fingers on curd right out fo the deep fat fryer...)

It's not about the cheese curds, it's about the combination of foods that results in super-numminess. Also, it's easier to get to Manchester than Minneapolis. ;-D And now that I'm really hungry and trying to figure out how I can approximate poutine with foods from the chow hall, I'm going to go eat. :-D

Minnesota state fair runs the end of August, anyway.

I wonder if I can get some curd shipped for Pennsic...

And do tell us how that counterfit poutine project works out. I'm curious!

It's predicated upon having the right combination of foods in the chow hall at the same time... no go tonight, but I'm hopeful.

My boss is French Candian, which we're always kidding him about. He was telling me the other day that he found a place in Manchester which serves poutine. I'll have to find out where it is.

I asked Gene about it and he highly reccomends this diner for their authentic poutine. We'll have to have a trip up there when you get back.
