so excited
I'm going to http://www.skateland.com tonight to get new skate boots. I've been giving it a lot of thought, and I'm going to start skating again, if only for exercise and testing purposes (there is a testing sytem to measure your skill and progress in artistic roller skating). When I quit, I do remember that I'd finished my Silver tests in dance. I don't remember where I was with figures or freestyle, but I'm a little too old and heavy to do freestyle anymore, any way.

I'm excited. This is going to be fun. I'm still going do a conventional workout, but this will add much-needed variety.

YAY! You and I can be excited about (different types of) skating together.

We went last night and I can do everything I could before (which is very very little). I hope eventually I can test Adult Pre-Bronze. (I have no idea how this compares to roller)

There are similarities. Artistic roller skating doesn't test basic skating skills, though.

I'm a little fuzzy on the contents of Adult Pre-Bronze (when I tested adult on ice, they didn't have Pre-Bronze yet, and I tested Bronze), but I would say it probably overlaps with the Freestyle 1-3 tests in roller skating. (That is, if they haven't changed THOSE in the last few years.) I never tested higher than the first freestyle test in roller skating, and last time I looked, the proposed inline freestyle tests were awful so I never tested those either, even though I was competing freestyle on inlines.

What a great plan, Tasha! It sounds lovely and inspiring to return to something you loved doing. Have fun, and be refreshed! :)

Wow, silvers in dance... I assume this was American Dance and not International. I passed the first American Dance test years and years ago, and never did a bit of dance beyond that. :) I can't remember how far I got in figures... I wish I had been able to take lessons at a young age, though, because I would have gotten so much further.

Yup, American. I want to say I finished my silver in figures, too, but I don't remember. I'm going to start over, though -- I barely remember the Glide Waltz.
