So far it's been a good weekend, I think, on the whole. Friday, I skated in the morning, and one of the best skaters in the rink asked me to do the Progressive Tango. It was wonderful -- I was totally flattered that he asked me because that obviously means that I'm skating well enough that he trusts me not to wipe him out. :-) My posture became even better (I thought I was doing well, but apparently there's still a little room for improvement), and I could really feel the rockover where we changed edges coming out of the center, which was actually something my coach and I worked on in my lesson on Thursday. This is one of the dances for my first Bronze Solo Dance test, so I'm really working hard on that and Glide Waltz. I learned these dances when I was, oh, I don't know... 10? And I'm still learning stuff about them.

The afternoon was okay, though not as positive as I'd hoped. I took Max to the vet for a recheck, and as she was looking at his abdomen, the vet found a couple of lumps on his belly. She aspirated some fluid and matter from the lumps (and oh BOY he didn't like that), and I hope to get the results on Monday. I pray it's just a mammary tumor or scar tissue or something else innocuous. I don't want my poor handsome boy to suffer.

Today was really good, though. My beloved duchess and sibilla_dangers and I went to Fabric Fix in Manchester.

I'd heard that there were deals to be had, but... but... ooh. I got 15 yards of fabric, almost all of it wool, and all of it $6/yard or less. A. found some gorgeous green wool and milk chocolate-colored linen that look amazing together -- Wolfie is getting a brown linen undertunic and a green wool overtunic, and I think they'll want embroidery. We had lunch, which is always fun, and then I went to WalMart (skeery place, the day before Easter) and got two big Sterilite chests of drawers. They were a bit pricey, but the drawers roll very easily, even when full of fabric, and my fabric corner in my workroom is all tidy now. I'm about to get something to eat and head upstairs to finish -- I need my sewing room back!

Are the roller skating dances similiar to the ice dances?

I had a guy at the rink offer to start teaching me basic holds, but then I fractured my ankle and haven't been able to go to the adult session anymore. I'm not sure if I want to do ice dancing or not. I know you can learn and test the first few solo, but to be able to compete them (or even do them without being completely bored) I'd need a partner, and where do you find one of those?

I have no idea -- never done ice dancing.

Roller skating has instituted a solo dance event, purely because there aren't enough men to go around. They always had it, though not at regional or national level, but now it's an official event. The testing program is separate for team and solo dance, which is new to me; back in the day, you just found a guy to dance with, borrowing someone else's partner if necessary. As to where you find one, I wish I knew.

Sounds like a fun trip out to the Fabric-Fix. Next time you decide to go let me know. :)
