i'm in the sewing groove
Three garments -- my red wool underdress, my grey plaid apron dress, and a brown linen tunic for Wolfie -- in maybe four days. I decided that I wanted a new smock, so I started making one out of this (I think) cotton-linen blend that I had in my stash. I almost don't have enough, but I'll tell you what, now that I know well the size and shape of the pieces I need, I can get dresses and tunics out of less fabric than I would have thought possible. I'm getting this one out of a piece 66"x59", and it'll cover me neck to ankle. Hopefully, it'll fit and it won't be too skimpy.

However, I have realized that I very much need a yardstick. I have a ruler 15" long, and one 24" long, but I could really use one that's a bit longer. It'd help me make long diagonal marks. Guess I'll be heading out to Staples tomorrow. Yes, I could get a cheapie one made out of crap wood at Home Depot, but it's not much good for a straight edge, now is it? I'll spring for a steel one from the drafting department at Staples.

i feel: okay okay

I got mine, a metal one, in the tool section at my local Walmart. I paid ~$4 for it. Works great :)

Cool, I need to go there, too. You've just saved me a trip! Thanks!
