do the next thing
i hope this is worth it
I've taken the plunge and set up a session at Dream Dinners.  I ordered six meals (well, 5 meals and dessert), and it cost about $120 plus a $17 surcharge because I didn't do the 12 meal dealie.  $17 is worth it to me to ensure that we like eating this way.

So on Saturday, I'll head over there and prepare Chicken Breast With Honey, Garlic & Orange, Steaks With Roasted Red Peppers & Herb Butter, Garlic Pork Roast Adobo, Maple Thyme Pork Chops With Bountiful Baked Beans, Sweet & Sour Chicken Over Rice, and Peach Crisp.  The steaks and chops are a meal of six portions, and I think the chicken breasts are too.  The pork roast is, well, a roast, but that can be sliced up nicely after it's cooked for at least a couple of meals, and the sweet and sour chicken can be reheated after it's cooked, too.  So at least three of these meals will feed us three times each -- that's eighteen meals.  Figure, say, eight more meals out of the roast and the stir-fry, and that's 26 meals, plus dessert.  26 meals, a projected 13 days of good eats for both of us, for about $5.26 each.  It's a good start.  I hope these recipes taste as good as they sound.

i feel: hungry hungry

I'm usually such a plain-food kind of gal, this is really complex for me -- I'm not sure I'd even order this stuff in a restaurant. Like I said, they sound faboo; I hope they taste as good!

Can you make a meal like this, with all the spices and sides, for less than $5/serving, AND not have to clean your kitchen after prep? That last is work a buck or two to me. :-)

Also, even if you don't do it regularly, it's nice to have this stuff in the freezer for days when you need it.

we got the 6 meals, and i split everything at hte place in half, so 12 meals. each is 3 servings, and it really is, or at least 2 dinners and a lunch. so it was 12 meals times 3 servings = 36 servings for $120 so ~3.33 per serving for me. so far i am loving it so much i scheduled another session :)

I can probably split everything but the roast. Good to know!

nod, when you ordered yoru menu, it shoudlhave said not recomended to split for the roast. what they told us whenwe were there was to split everything (they will teach you how) and for hte roasts, split everythignbut hte roast itself and just after cookignit cut it in half.

Wow! That looks so cool!!

There are several locations nearish to me... one very near to me that's "coming soon"... and two near JtB. I seriously think I might give this a try. Well... after I move. :) That's a lot of food... and on days when I work and then teach and then swim and don't get home till 9pm... it'd awfully nice to be able to pop something in the oven, go take my shower, and have DINNER waiting for me. I love to cook but am seriously hampered by the time factor. This looks AWESOME.

Please update on how you like it!!
