I have finished tracing the design onto the embroidery stabilizer. I got to thinking about it, and considered that while the design might fit well into the space required, it might not fit exactly 33 repeats, given that the repeats aren't traced exactly the same distance apart every time. So I measured the length of the total desgn, and ended up doing something like 39 repeats, instead. Whatever. This part is done.

Now I can get on to the truly interesting (in the Chinese curse sense of the word) part of this exercise: cutting the strip of fabric and getting it ready to embroider. I discussed the project with my Laurel on Thursday, and she agreed with me, that since I have to piece it, flat fell seams are the way to go. I think I'm going to cut the piece so that it's curved to match the edges of the cloak, and just blanket stitch the edges, rather than try to hem them. I think. Maybe. Oy.

But the design is drawn, and that's a start.

I'll think about it. Maybe I can find some pics of Max's good side (ie, the side that's not all scabby).
