I would like to thank the makers of Sunbird and Yahoo!Widgets for saving me from making a rather expensive mistake the other day.

I discovered Widgets while reading about a remote control app for iTunes.  They're these little apps that run on your desktop that tell you the weather, the time, show you pics from your files, and what your calendar says you have going on today and tomorrow.  The calendar widget mentioned Sunbird, and said that it reads calendars saved in the open source iCal format, so I downloaded it and started inputting my appointments and goings-on.  (I also wanted to put my calendar on my iPod so yay! double-duty!)

One of the appointments that I entered was a mandatory career seminar I had to go to into order to keep getting my unemployment -- I'd already missed one by accident; I didn't want to miss another, or they could stop payments.  Thank goodness I had the widget to remind me, because I seriously would have forgotten.

So thank you, Sunbird and Yahoo!Widgets.  You saved the day.
