more cloak progress
I did two more motifs on the cloak tonight -- had I worked on them steadily insead of screwing around online between lengths of thread, I'd have had them done in two, maybe three hours. This hoopless thing, I can't get over how much faster it is! I'm already a little more than halfway through the second four-foot panel. Maybe tomorrow, after the tidying and the ironing, I'll see if I can't knock out three more patterns -- that'll get me really close to the middle!

All of a sudden, this isn't the overwhelming giganto-project that I'd feared... and I'll have it done in time to make some super-swank garb for us for Twelfth Night. Schweet.

Do you find it's harder to keep the tension constant when working without a hoop?

Oddly, I don't. I couldn't keep the tension terribly tight anyway; I couldn't pull the embroidery stabilizer I'm using to transfer the designs without tearing it. And I don't have to worry about the fabric being pulled off-grain by a round hoop.
