We just got back to the hotel from site. It was a lovely day, and His Majesty won the beginner's archery tournament (heh...), my beloved husband darkwolfie won the intermediate class, and Nigel won the youth tournament. A gentle from Dragonship Haven won the advanced class, and apparently a challenge has been issued to the archers of Ostgardr to beat Duchy Tarragon next year. I'm so proud of darkwolfie that I could bust! I was seriously grinning so hard it hurt.

We got all the way through both Baronial courts and the Investiture, which was lovely, and had just started Royal Court when it started to thunder. There was a pavilion behind the ampitheater where we were holding court and we barely made it inside before the skies opened up -- and when I say opened up, I'm not kidding. baronadhemar had to run back to roll up the windows on hs vehicle, and not only did he get soaked, he said there was hail. All in all, it was a decent event, but certainly ended with a bang.

i feel: tired tired

We had a decent sized thunderboomer rip through here last night, part of that wave. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, since I consider this rather late in the season for T-storms. Even so... it was a productive night last night. New shinies are going up on eBay tonight, and the SCAdian who bought the amber-beaded necklace gave me the seal of approval today (pos. f/b).

Congrats on the archery, and... amphitheater?? Is this a new structure at the site? *curious*

One last question.... Did the recipient get the black scroll?
I'd like to share that image, but not w/o confirmation first. :)

Back to fussing about...

It was fecking impressive, actually. And yes, the recipient did get the scroll... she wept, both at the award itself and at the scroll.

I have no idea if the ampitheater is new; I've never been to the site before. It's back behind the little "canteen" pavillion, near camping areas, I guess? I spent most of my time near the fighting field. It was a nice little event.

Thank you again. :) Gianetta did the wording on my Manche scroll, and was/is a strong supporter of the scribal group I started up shortly before she was elected as Landed Baroness. I really wish I could have fit the original wording onto the piece, but in the interest of maintaining the look of it while squeezing that teeeeeeeny bit of space for the signatures (Sorry Your Majesties!), I had to do a lot of hacking/editing the text as I went along.

I am SO thrilled she liked it. :D

As for the amphitheater... Might be new. We haven't been there in a while, but I remember a bridge over a small creek back there, leading to a trail to the camping area. I still miss the original site, before they lost it (site cost) - very large site, plenty of play area for fighters, fencers, and archers, and cabins for the campers.

It was reallllly impressive. And as I said the "storm of time" line, everyone laughed, because the weather was just slacking off. It was just one of those "so insane it's funny" moments. :-D

I have GOT to include more sunshine in my wording.

For Samuel le Medier's OSC, which was supposed to be given at Spring War Camp, I cited the Feast Day of Saint Theodor of Sykeon.

....Patron Saint For / Against Rain.
And thus, it rained... like the Great Flood....

When the scroll was presented to Sam in person at Southern Region....
Yup. Downpour again.

So. Yeah. More sunshine. :D

You mean it's your fault? Here we've been blaming Brion.

Oh, and I bought hemitite and freshwater peals and some other beads for my greyscale Viking outfit. I'm very excited. I have my bead swags and my silk beading thread in my workroom at the same time; I should restring my swags today.

Remind me to bring the Viking garb I have to the next SCA event we're at after Coronation. I won't be wearing it, just carrying it... I can't comment about it here, but you should really see it.

msmemory and thorsbaby saw me in it at 12th Night 2 years ago, and that was the only time I've worn it...

I was just doing my calendar -- I think the next event I'll be at is St. Eligius, on October 21. Gotta get something done to enter the A&S comp. :-D

We'll be in Maryland that weekend for my younger brother's wedding.... (I was disappointed when I found out which event I would have to miss, but his wedding only happens once in a lifetime. And it's the fun brother, not the stick in the mud brother. ;) )

Um, howsabout Bergental or BBM Yule?
(Or EKU, if I get my act together)
tashabear From: tashabear Date: September 10th, 2006 10:39 pm (UTC) (base camp)
Definitely the Carolingian EKU (I want to teach, just have to decide what), and Bergental Yule is a definite possibility.
