a semi-productive day - when you don't know what to do... — LiveJournal
do the next thing
a semi-productive day
I had a somewhat productive day today. I mean, it wasn't on a scale with palegreyminion, who can paint her house, grade her driveway, look after her animals, broker world peace and/or foment rebellion and build a geodesic biodome from parts she finds at Home Depot, and all before dinner, but I did get things done that have been plaguing me, like emailing former colleagues and professors about writing me recommendations for grad school and calling about my Triple A membership card and my military ID. Plus I got some graphics work done, and I have some more to do.

My beloved replaced my Army wallet and gave me a loaf of garlic bread for my birthday (I think there may be another pressie coming, but I'm not asking). My in-laws gave me a Michael's card, which was nice, because BEADS! And PAPER! Ooh, I wonder if Michael's sells Rotring pens on their website? ...apparently not. But still... PAPER!

I guess I should get back to work...

i feel: okay okay

Are you quoting Larry Miller?

Is he one of your favorite comedians, also?

No... never heard of him. What bit reminded you of him?

You have heard of him, you've probably seen him, you just don't recognize him. He's primarily a comedian, though he's done a lot of character parts in movies and television.

Start with http://larrymillerhumor.com.

He does a routine about the "only" time he went snow skiing that is one of my favorites, but the quote I remember is when he's comparing mothers and fathers. He talks about all of the things that his mother can do once, including brokering world peace and foment rebellion, and all this before lunch time. He then said that his dad can hold a beer can, work the TV remote...and that's about it.

I looked him up -- you're right, I do recognize him. I wasn't consciously quoting him... what a strange gestalt!
