1. Do you prefer solicitors and service staff to address you by first name or by title+last (e.g. "Ms. Smith", "Dr. Adams", etc.)?

Depends on the context. Ms or Mrs Dooley in the civilian world, Captain Dooley in the military.

2. How many careers have you had?

I'm not sure I've even had one yet...

3. How many jobs? How many employers?

I have no earthly idea -- I was a temp for too long.

4. What was the best employer you worked for?

TMP Worldwide, the owners of Monster.com. I learned a lot. I just wish I'd been smarter about the working world when I was there.

5. What was your favorite job?

TMP Worldwide, again.

6. How many companies, businesses or incorporated organizations have you founded?

None, really. I wanted to start a fiber arts business, but that's sort of petered out.

7. Did you grow up to be what you wanted to be when you were 5? When you were 10? When you were 15? When you were 20?

None of the above, because i wasn't honest with myself about where my strengths lay.

8. Have you published any books or academic papers? How many?


9. Do you hold any patents? How many?

No patents.

10. Are you licensed or certified to practice a profession(s)? If so, what?

I guess I'm certified to be an Army officer...

11. Ever served in the military? What branch and how long?

I've been in the Army Reserve for 17 years.

12. What's the largest number of employees you have ever managed at a time?

If my platoon counts, 52.

13. How many countries have you lived in?

Does my deployment to Kuwait count?

14. How many times have you been married?

Just the once, though I was engaged three times.

15. How many kids do you have? How many grandkids?

No kids, no grandkids. Just cats.

16. Whom do you observe Thanksgiving with?

I prefer to go to my parents, but if I have to I'll go to his.

17. How many parents have you had?

Just the two.

18. How many of your parents are still alive? How close are/were you to them?

They're both alive. I'm close to both of them, in different ways.

19. What's one way you were surprised to find out you turned out like one of your parents?

When I was living with a guy with a kid and heard my mother's phrases coming out of my mouth.

20. What's one way you expected to turn out like your parent(s) and were surprised not to?

I expected to marry and have children before I turned 30.

21. Do you own or rent your home? If the former, how many years on your mortgage, if any?

We own a home. I'm not sure how much is left on the mortgage; my husband bought the house before he met me.

22. Do you have roommates (i.e. non-family adults living with you)? If not, how long has it been since you had roommates?

I live with my husband, but I was deployed and had a room to myself at Ft Dix for three or four months in 2005... does that count?

25. Are you a member of a political party? Do you volunteer with it? Do you donate money to it?

I'm not political.

26. What's the nicest restaurant you've been to in the past year?

Lui Lui's, in Nashua. I'm not big on super-nice restaurants; I'm a messy eater.

My bed.

28. What kitchen appliance are you most happy you bought? (Gifts don't count!)

Bread machine. Num.

29. Do you have a preferred airline? How many frequent flyer miles do you have?

I like AirTran; no frequent flyer miles, though.

30. Where do you like to go to vacation?

I've never been on one that didn't involve the SCA.

31. Women: Do you wear skirts or trousers on the job?

Last job I had, it was desert camo and boots.

32. Men: Do you currently have facial hair?


33. Do you have grey hair yet? If so, do you try to hide it?

Yes, and yes. Started going grey at 26, and decided I'm too young for that foolishness. I plan to stay too young for a long, long time.
