rainy day gooshy food
I just made a really yummy hot cereal.

I liked the bulgar wheat that was served at Coronation this past spring, so I've been looking for it half-heartedly, and had seen some recipes for frumenty online. Mostly it's made with meat stock, which sounds yummy, and then the recipe goes on to say it can be made with plain water, then served with brown sugar and/or honey for a breakfast cereal.

I found bulgar wheat at the grocery store yesterday (strange store; it's wicked dated, and doesn't look like there would be anything interesting in it, but I find the neatest stuff), and got inspired. I grabbed a bottle of apple juice, and today, I cooked 1 cup of the bulgar in 2 cups of apple juice. Tasty, but there was a bite I didn't care for, so I added a couple of dollops of honey from my household brother's hive. Yummy and warm and perfect on a day like today. The only thing I'd add would be bits of dried apples and maybe some raisins. And I might soak the wheat before cooking it.

I wonder how old the chicken broth is in the cupboard?

i feel: happy happy

Yes, but the nearest Whole Foods is 16 miles away, while the nearest Market Basket is 1.6 miles away.

I don't have that much room to keep a bulk purchase, but thank you. The 28 oz I bought should last for a bit.
