What American accent do you have?
Your Result: Boston

You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.

The Midland
North Central
Philadelphia
The Northeast
The Inland North
The South
What American accent do you have?

Because, you know, there's nowhere else to live in Massachusetts besides Boston. (And for the record, I grew up in Worcester County.)

Hmmm. Mine came out North Inland. Midland, Northeast, Philadelphia, South, West, THEN Boston, and North Central. The quiz implied that I lived in Chicago and called carbonated beverages "pop". (I do NOT). I grew up in Upstate NY, BTW. They probably ought to have included a question that included the Central NY flat "A". As in, do ant and aunt sound the same to you? I grew up thinking they did. However, after years of living with my husband (to whom they do not sound the same)has adjusted my thinking, and my accent. That, and the fact that "Aunt" is an extremely well used word in my family, there being so very many of them! I think my kids currently have 14 Aunts, plus some Great-Aunts we see from time to time!

I had the same result as you did and I don't use "pop" for carbonated drinks. I spent my first 12 years in DC with parents who grew up in New England and then moved to Mass for the rest of my school years. I pronounce Ant and Aunt differently but now I know why my husband's family pronounce them the same. They are from NY state too.

*gestures westward* Well, from where you are, anyway.

I had this theory about West Central MA, where I lived for one brief HELLISH season... Have you read Good Omens? There's a demon who lays out the M1 Ring Road around London in the shape of the sigil of Odegra.

I have this theory that Odegra really lives underneath West Central MA... *shudder*

Yeah. Boston. *fist in air*

*stabs quiz* Philadelphia? I've never been there! *reads more closely* Oh... okay, it's the Rhode Island thing creeping in.

*stands down from ire*
