sleepy weirdness
Wolfie's been talking in his sleep. I first noticed him doing this when he worked for Verizon -- one night he started trying to tell me how to kill a process in Unix. It kinda got garbled and stupid, though. Then after he got laid off, over the summer, he was absolutely quiet when he slept. Now that he's working again, he's getting nocturnally verbal again. It's weird...

On the fiber and knitting front, I've gone as far as I can with the baby sweater I've been knitting using Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool. (I ran out.) I got as far as the far side of the back of the sweater, which ain't bad, considering that you start at the right front. I probably only had about half a ball of the wool, because that's the stuff I bought to practice naalbinding with. I'll find more, and finish the sweater, just to say I did. Dunno who it will end up with. Best of all, it was done on the needles that bellatrixx gave me. She rawks.

I found Lion Brand Wool Ease (I think it's Wool Ease, I can't remember at the mo' and I'm not going downstairs to look) on sale at Michael's for $1.30/skein this week, so I bought two skeins of heather red and two of heather blue to make sweaters for my household sister and my cousin. I need to do something for my household brother and his wife, too; they just had twin boys, born premature. I'll probably get some acrylic baby yarn and make hats for the boys -- I have wool fingering, but I don't want to use that on preemies. I spent the afternoon playing with different textures, because I don't care for the box stitch that's called for in the pattern. I think I'm going to go with a three-stitch box instead of two; I can't see what I'm doing on this darker yarn with a two-stitch box stitch. And since the gauge is 6 stitches to the inch, it all works out nicely. I'm using the same size eight needles I used for the first prototype of the sweater; I just ran another bit of yarn through the stitches and pulled out the needles.

(For those of you who thought that the preceding paragraph was utter gobbledegook, just nod and smile.)

I found a new eBay store: SilverGoose. Handmade knitting, crochet, and spinning tools. Dreamy. Sigh. Someday I'll have a real job and I can buy stuff again.

We went out tonight, to karaoke at a new place we found. Really had fun; the karaoke guy had a huge catalog, the singers didn't suck, and there weren't many people on the rotation so Wolfie got to sing like four times. We were singing along, at our table, to this couple who were singing "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf, and I was singing the girl's part. Wolfie said that I was in tune! I've never been able to sing the girl's part before! My throat is sore right now, from controlling the notes, but I was in tune! I'm actually getting better at this singing stuff. Maybe singing tunefully is contagious -- I caught it from Wolfie.
