got my first biker wave of the season today
I had a doctor's appointment today, and didn't need to go back to the office, so I was home by 3:15. It was gorgeous and sunny, so really, what else was I going to do?

Yet another errand needed running -- my bike needed an inspection, so I got directions and headed out for Bay 4 Motorsports. I was taking a surface route, as I'm not ready for the highway, and it was only 7 miles. I should have taken 20 or 30 minutes. Uhhh... not so much.

When I rule the world, street signage will be big, and it will be replaced when something happens to it. I missed two out of 4 turns because I either missed the sign or it wasn't present. If/when I do this ride again, though, I'll be fine, because now I know the landmarks. It was a fun ride, though. Nice curves, almost twisties, some interesting street challenges. Next time I'm going someplace I've never been, though, I'm finding some way to put the directions where I can see them, because having them stuffed in my jacket doesn't cut it.

The ride home went better though, with only one missed turn that wasn't even a turn; the road leaned to the right and I missed it by maybe half a mile. And then I missed my own driveway, because I approached it from a direction opposite the one I usually use.

On the way home, though, I got my first biker wave of the season, from a guy on a sportbike going the other way. I'd been at a stoplight, and it's hard to give a wave when you're trying to get started, but it was good to give it, and great to get it.
