sarah silverman covets my pie
darkwolfie went for another ride tonight, this time up to Manchester to the Red Arrow Diner.

The ride was good, the food was meh, but it was the company that was kinda neat. Well, not really *our* company, but in the next booth, anyway. I didn't realize who it was at first, but then I caught sight of her profile, and it was Sarah Silverman! She's actually from NH -- no idea why she was home, but it was cool that she likes to go a hole in the wall diner in Manchester at like 11pm.

The reason I said that she covets my pie is that she looked over her shoulder and saw my "Splendid Brownie Cream Pie" (not as good as it sounds -- heaping greasy faux-whipped-cream topping on a pudding pie does NOT make it a cream pie, IMO), and made faces like she wanted it. I probably should have warned her.

Not sure I'll go back to that diner, but it was kinda fun.

We tried to go to that diner a couple of months ago, but there were lines out the door. I'd still like to give it a try, so I was glad to hear your report. There was a pizza place with a funky neon sign just around the corner that I'd like to check out, too.

We haven't tried any of the local diners besides Carleens (it wasn't really a diner, breakfast was OK, we've only been there once). Where else should we try?

Have you and Wolfie been to the Owl Diner in Lowell? I like a side order of their beans with my breakfast. I love their tough-talkin' Yankee waitresses that call everyone "hon"--takes me back to being a kid again. My elementary school also had the same style Melamine dishes so lots of nostalgia for me.

I'm friends with Sarah Silverman's mother, but I haven't seen her in FOREVER. Her step father was my philosophy professor. I think she is funny as hell.
Last time I saw BethAnn (her mom) she had been diagnosed with cancer. I hope nothing is wrong that would bring Sarah around.

Hope not. It was like 1am, so I wasn't going to ask why she was there. She has as much right to enjoy an English muffin as the next person. :-)

No, I wouldn't expect that you would have. If she was home for a visit that also could mean that Beth Ann recovered well.
Its weird-if I ran into her I'm not sure I'd approach her to ask how her mom was for fear that she'd think I was accosting her because she's Sarah Silverman...but its because of her mom I'd even bother her in the first place, ya know?
