darkwolfie and I went to karaoke at The Fireside Restaurant. Apparently the guy who runs the show has been doing it for thirteen years. What a shame he still doesn't know what he's doing.

This was such a letdown after the great show in Pittsburgh. I swear, it was without a doubt the WORST KARAOKE SHOW EVER. And I don't doubt that it's like that every week.

It's not that the singers were bad (and except for darkwolfie and this other woman, they were). It's that the singers were bad and the guy running the show was so disorganized, the singers would be standing up there for three minutes waiting for him to cue up their music. He didn't make sure that he could read every slip. He didn't tell the next person that they were up after the current singer. His book was not well-organized, and he didn't have much in the way of current music. Also, I think he was drunk. I don't think we'll be back.

And finally, if you're a white girl from the suburbs and you don't read very fast, DO NOT SING "BABY GOT BACK" BY SIR MIX-A-LOT. If fact, don't sing it if you can read fast. Just... don't. It's not pretty.

i feel: cranky cranky

Ah the joys of karaoke. I haven't been to a good karaoke bar is FOREVER and I miss it. The one place that I used to go to in Charlotte changed companies and the new one sucks. His mikes are horrible and even songs that I know I can do with my eyes closed sound horrific (makes me shudder). I still haven't gotten to hear darkwolfie sing!

If you want Really Good Karaoke, catch DJ Paul at The Asgard in Cambridge on Wed nights starting ~ 930.
He is really good, very well organized and many of the regular singers are really great. I can't do that late on a work night often but it's great fun.
