yo, Brinks Home Security!
You think maybe you could have a man be the one getting his house broken into? I'm a little sick of the female victimization meme.

i feel: irritated irritated

Don't forget the companion commercial where you, Tasha, wait for him to come by one of those convenient doorways in the hallway, at which point you demonstrate your martial arts prowess :)

Yeah, but is that a commercial for Brinks, or for the dojo?

Besides, I'd probably just shoot the bastard(s).

I thought about just putting that in instead, but decided that discretion was the better part of valor :)

Discretion-smechan...she gets to riddle and reload.

to be fair... when a burglar surveys your house to rob it, he waits for the dude to not be there. they are probably trying to portray a relatively realistic situation...

Mmmmmaybe... but still... irritating.

oh absolutely. but i can see why they do it.

ha yes
Especially when my grandma used to say "just shoot them at the door and then drag their body inside and call the cops"

I love your grandma!

Eww, smelly. Kick it outside, the cops can deal with it there. ;-)
tashabear From: tashabear Date: December 3rd, 2008 02:35 am (UTC) (base camp)
Yeah, but if you shoot them on the doorstep it's murder. If they're in the house it's self-defense.
redsquirrel From: redsquirrel Date: December 3rd, 2008 04:02 am (UTC) (base camp)
Ah, right. See, I live in Florida. If they're anywhere on your property you can shoot 'em, no problem.

Agreed on the annoyance factor.

On a somewhat similar note, I haven't seen the 2nd National Treasure, but whenever the geeky sidekick (the one reason I'd actually /see/ the movie) says in the preview, "This is why I tell people to get a dog..." I grin.

I love so very much my rottenweiler-mix baby. She had a big-girl bark whenever strangers approach, but is a sweetheart to any friends that come over.

Do you only get the ad with the woman getting ready for a date? We also get one that's a married couple, and one that's a mother with kids. The husband calls for help in the former and the mother calls in the latter and then takes her kids into one room to hid together.

I like the ad suggestions here though :D
tashabear From: tashabear Date: December 2nd, 2008 01:34 pm (UTC) (base camp)
I don't recall the married couple, but I get the other two. I totally don't get why a) the chick getting ready for the date has the curtains open on her patio door at night and b) the bad guy breaks it! So dumb... you'd think he'd just run.

Yeah, most burglars run at the first sign of problems. And who goes to check things out in a towel?
