whadja bring me?
My family just got back from Ireland last night. Mom, Dad and Sis spent a week over there... good thing I didn't see the itinerary till last night, or I'd have been (even more) jealous! I saw some of the pictures from the digicams, though, and it was gorgeous. Sis shopped her little head off, bringing home some lovely sweaters, a jacket, a hat, some jewelry and other knicknacks, while Mom picked up a couple of sweaters and giftie things.

And she brought me YARN. Twelve skeins of purple Aran yarn from the woolen mills in Blarney! It's lovely; I can't wait to knit myself a nice Aran sweater. (It's far too heavy for a gansey.) It'll be all snuggly and warm for next winter. Now I just have to find a pattern.

In other knitting news, I cast on the Classic Elite sock again. It took two tries, but I finally got the toe right. I think that if I'd had to rip one more time, I would have had to cut off the yarn I'd been ripping; it was getting too fuzzy. I'm pleased now; on to the foot we go. We're going to Worcester tonight to visit sushimare and skorzy and to meet starbiter; so CE#1 (I have 4 pair of socks to knit for them!) will come with me.

I also finished one of my blue striped Regia socks; I think we need to go to the karaoke bar again so that I can get going on #2 (I started the first sock at the bar). The first one is a little shorter than I'd anticipated, but I did the Priscilla Gibson-Roberts heel instead of my usual Dutch heel, and that means no heel flap. No worries... it's just that I might be able to get an entire sock out of what I have left on the first ball.

So that's about it so far... no news really on the wedding front, except that it's supposed to thunder tomorrow and I don't want to go look at Gore Place in the rain. :-(

i feel: blah blah

For rather nice Irish yarn easily bought in the US, check out Black Water Abbey.
