it's no Willow Tree Grill...
So we tried the Italian place that replaced our beloved Willow Tree Grill. I was singularly unimpressed. The first thing the waitress did, will taking our drink orders, was commewnt on our accents, or lack thereof. I have *never* had a New England accent, and Wolfie has one only sometimes... but how the hell do you determine that someone drops their R's when they say "Diet Coke, please"? I found it irritatingly familiar. Then when she brought the complimentary house salad, which was driiping in dressing, and we told her we didn't want it, she said, "Oh, you don't eat salad?" What the hell business is it of hers what we eat or don't eat? We don't want the salad; take it away. And lastly, she kept putting the check in front of Wolfie, despite the fact that it was my card that got put down to pay (I bought dinner as his birthday present). Irritating, to say the least.

And the food... Garlic bread in an Italian restaurant should not need more garlic, as this did. And if you serve olive oil with bread, put something in it! Plain olive oil is boring. Wolfie's steak tips were tasty, but the waitress screwed up his order and brought him mashed potatoes instead of fries. My chicken parm was bland, and both it and the accompanying linguine needed salt. There are three other Italian places within 5 miles of this one; I won't be racing back there in a hurry.

I miss Willow Tree. I need a little local pub-type restaurant!
