chrysalis - when you don't know what to do... — LiveJournal
do the next thing
Chrysalis is the stray kitty that the neighbors next door sort of adopted recently. Every time we saw him, he looked a little bit more beaten up. He showed up with this ginormous gash on his shoulder, and then most recently, he had a lump on the front of his right foreleg and he was favoring it a bit. I thought for sure it was broken, and as we can't afford his medical care (not for a broken leg, certainly!), I thought for sure he'd have to be put down. He's such a sweet, affectionate boy, that it just broke my heart and I bawled.

We closed him up in our cellar for the night last night, and today he shows definite signs of improvement. He's not favoring the leg so much, and it shows no signs of tenderness when it's touched. He'll let me pick him up -- he's such a love! -- and he's eating like a very small horse. So it looks like a sprain, not a break, thank goodness. We'll let him out tomorrow. I feel a bit like a stalker; trapping him in the cellar and bringing him food, but at least he gets let out in 48 hours.
