sigh. shawl. - when you don't know what to do...
do the next thing
sigh. shawl.
So I'm making the Tiger Eye Shawl from Blackberry Ridge. They have some really fabulous patterns and I love the yarn -- there's my endorsement.

I finished the center of the shawl yesterday, and picked up the stitches for the border this evening. I loved knitting the middle; that was fabulous. Picking up stitches for the edges, though... not so much. And I somehow fouled up the pattern, anyway, so I ended up ripping the whole edge out. Sigh.

Oh well. That's the beauty of knitting, right? If you screw it up you can (usually) rip it out and start over? Yeah, that's my mantra, too.

Guess I'll take it to knitting night tomorrow and do the pick-ups again. I need a smaller crochet hook, anyway, and someone to explain how, if I pick up the stitches with the right side facing, I can knit the first row on the wrong side? Unless I pull the stitches to the underside... I don't get it. Grumble.

Guess I'll go sleep on it and maybe it'll come to me then.

(This isn't deterring me from kntting more lace, though... that's FUN! I'm trying to pick out my next one...)

"Knitting Aerobics" at The Woolpack, Rte 119, Littleton, MA, on Wednesday nights, 7-9. Might be a little out of your way. Lucy at Mind's Eye Yarns in Cambridge has a knitting group on Wednesdays, as well, but it's $30 for 6 months. The Woolpack group is free. There's a new place on Chestnut Ave that might be worth a gander, too: http://home.earthlink.net/~circles-salon/ I haven't been there yet; her yarns sound luscious, but pricey. I ave no problem paying for quailty, but I simply haven't had the money lately.
