teaching again - when you don't know what to do... — LiveJournal

teaching again
I did a spate of SCA teaching last spring, and it looks like I'm going to do it again, at Novice Schola. I volunteered ages ago to teach drop-spinning, and there was interest, but no time. I lost contact with a guy in Haverhill who makes Turkish spindles, and I'm sure that I can get back in touch with him, but right now I think I'd rather do it myself. I found drop-spindle kits at The Bellwether, 4 for $7 unassembled, and an additional $7 for every 4 assembled by them. I think I'll buy them unassembled; that way I can keep the costst to the students under $5. I can also get some top from Paradise fibers for $9/lb, so all in all, it's going to be way more economical to teach this class than I thought. Definitely have to put a lid on the class size, though. I'm thinking 7. I've ammased a nice little collection of spindles and have spun a bunch of yarn , so I'll have some stuff to show off.

It's going to be interesting to get back in the saddle.
