Wait till you see the painting. Took me to the brink of overworking it, but I'm happy with it.

Wow, that's awesome! But whoa, so small! I first thought this was going to become a book cover, but now that I see the quarter, I'm inclined to believe this is gonna be a badge. It looks fantastic, though!!

BTW, did you get that email I sent about the "Pointless Polls" tag in my LJ?

Nope, that's a badge commission I took at AC, 4x3. And thanks!

I think I did see that, but I hit the ground running after AC.

Ah, I knew it was a badge. It looks fantastic!!

Busy times after AC? No problem. The polls are all archived, so if you wanted to check for the results, there's a tag on my LJ you can use to flip through. :3

Very nicely done! Amazing detail work.

One of my tricks, so that I don't go crazy trying to paint everything EXACTLY PERFECT; antiquing stains. I do the painting first, let it dry really well, and lay black (or brown) acrylic antiquing medium all over it with a sponge. It works into the carved areas, so if you carve really nice details the medium picks that out & accents it (plus it hides imperfections in the painted edges where colors meet). You just sponge it on and then almost immediately wipe away the excess...it works like a charm and can save hours of painting time.

That's next. It's curing, then I'll seal it with spray acrylic, and then the antique.
