free-floating anxiety
It's struck again. For some inexplicable reason, I'm cranky today. I have the "I'm cwanky" munchies, too, which is never good. My neck's been stiff the last several days, too, though at least now I can turn my head wnough to back out of the driveway safely. Plus I got a ham and cheese calzone for dinner and it peed ham juice all over my pants. Grumble grumble grumble, grump grump grump.

On the plus side, I knitted the heel flap, turned the heel, and picked up the gusset stitches on the socks for my aunt. Soon I can go back to the DNA scarf for my cousin, and next week, I go get some yummy soft sock yarn for socks to warm my sweeties toes. Earlier this week, Wendy posted a link to an eBay seller that sells the most delicious looking sock yarn -- 1000 yards for $22! How can you go wrong? I can get a sock out of less than one ball of Regia which is like 225m, so I can certainly get two pair of socks out of 1000 yards of yarn! I could do his-n-hers socks for Christmas! Or for me n Wolfie. Poor guy gets none o'my knitting. He needs a sweater. He looks so smart in nice sweaters.

Woo. I actually feel a little more positive! Funny, that, how talking about your favorite hobby (and your favoritest person) can make you feel better...

i feel: crazy crazy

I hate getting sandwhich pee on me. To me it usually happens when I am in uniform just before I have something to do or I just put on a clean uniform.

Well, when I wore a uniform for a living, it was camouflage, so spots didn't show up quite as badly.

My college cadet uniform was another matter. That was dryclean only (what are they thinking, issuing drycleanables to college students?).

Carry on, I'll be in the area all day.

It gets better... I was a cadet at a military college for 4 years before I got my commission, so all told, I had over 10 years (almost 15!) in a military environment before I turned 30. I still have the voice -- it's a reason why I'm in demand to cry lists at Crown Tournaments.

Re: This is what I am looking at

They do custom colors; did you ask if they'd do parti-color?

Re: This is what I am looking at

For $10 more, you can get better quality stuff at http://www.historicenterprises.com

I've seen their wares; they're well-made and documentable. Not to mention, made out of more period fabrics -- cotton twill is nice, but linen and wool are the way to go if you're interested in authenticity.

Right now I'd have to say no. I'd like to, but I still don't have my sewing room set up, and I have to make my wedding garb, garb for my fiance and the rest of the wedding party, plus household livery for Wolfie and me. With that and my Christmas knitting, I just don't have the time. I wish I could help you out...

What colors are you looking for? What were you looking at?

I have ordered soem archery stuff from them and still waiting on it. I like the shoes and the strapped on hose and underwear they sell. the hood is close to what I want but I didn't see the tunic. Oh well

I have purchased several different things form this particular seller and they have all been delightful. And, yeah, I did get one of those 1,000 yard sock yarns (I was thinking "shawl" though, because these days EVERYTHING makes me think "shawl").Big thumbs up here! Of course, she's another seller who happens to live in the same state I do. Clearly I chose well moving here!

Ooh... is it nice and soft? I'd hate to have rough-feeling socks. Of course, not that I couldn't find something else to do with the yarn, but it's so discouraging to have one thing in mind and not be able to do it.

And as long as we're on the subject, any idea what guage it knits to? Is it like Regia, that sort of weight?
emmacrew From: emmacrew Date: September 27th, 2003 07:14 pm (UTC) (base camp)
Hmm, this means I need to dig it out again. I moved all of my recent purchase yarn and sort of hid it away before my mom got here a couple of days ago. I'll leave the notification e-mail in my inbox to remind me to do just that when I'm (a) not about to fall asleep and (b) not entertaining the maternal unit and get back to you on it. Memory says it is slightly heavier than Regia.

No worries. It's going to be a couple of weeks before I can buy it, anyway. :-)
